Lemons all day
More pattern play
More pattern play! This practice of taking something and repeating it on a page is something I do in my workshops. It helps to loosen up. Repetition helps us to develop not just skills but our style.
Years ago, I took classes in surface pattern design, and some of my favorite art inspiration books are about pattern-making. They include1:
Pattern Orla Kiely (signed!!)
Textile Design Susan Meller & Joost Ellfers
In Patterns Marimekko
Pattern Sourcebooks Shigeki Nakamura (I have three volumes of this series.)
100 Japanese Stencil Designs Edited by Friedrich Deneken
I adore lemons! I make my own preserved lemons and preserved lemon paste. Lemon juice is in my nightly cocktail.2
I could paint lemons all day.
Do you love this pattern as much as I do? What fruit or vegetable could you paint all day?
An Illustrated Feast
We will be exploring, eating and painting French foodstuffs including fresh fruits and vegetables from the market.
Join us to celebrate French culinary culture on the page. Your seat awaits here.
Some of these may be affiliate links. Most of these are out of print and need to be chased down!
Fizzy water, Tulsi-infused ACV, and lemon juice on ice.

I will be there in spirit. Lemon bars, yum.
